I have thought about taking Wednesday and Thursday off just to watch what I hope to be Tucker Carlson, Judge Jeanine, Sean Hannity, Dana Perino, and basically, the entire crew of Fox News, perform hari-kari on live television.Rickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17378148871085127364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37796969.post-68195320435762938172016-11-02T04:45:58.199+13:002016-11-02T04:45:58.199+13:00Maybe you guys need to start a Halloween type holi...Maybe you guys need to start a Halloween type holiday during your autumn. It takes all of my power not to correct them! So many times people have told me they 'brought' something at the store, and 'bought' it home. Agghhh!

:)dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02950430225424629417noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37796969.post-4882351880358444612015-01-04T11:52:25.556+13:002015-01-04T11:52:25.556+13:00You're not wrong, mate… ;-)

I haven't had the same reactions as you, though I have sometimes been caught out not knowing what people are talking about. And that STILL happens to me!

A few of my observations things you mentioned:

I was once sternly told that "pavement" referred only to the road, not the footpath. I sometimes still forget, but I never say "sidewalk" anymore.

The drawers v. draws thing doesn't bother me, but Kiwis saying "prop'ly" (properly) and "proppity" (property) do!

"Plaster" for bandages is short for "sticking plaster", which some people do call them. When someone just says "plaster" I mentally ad "sticking" so I DON'T think of the stuff on the wall!

Finally, every time I run across "flick me an email" I think of you. :-)Arthur Schenckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10568299067544221996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37796969.post-76047377741465148092014-05-04T12:52:06.504+12:002014-05-04T12:52:06.504+12:00In New Zealand and Australia, 'coriander' ...In New Zealand and Australia, 'coriander' refers to the leaves. You can buy them fresh or dried in spice jars. We use the term 'coriander seeds' for the spice (seeds) which are sold whole or ground.
As as Aussie, the Kiwi term 'yip' instead of 'yep' (for 'yes') always makes me chuckle. :-)
It's the one time a word is spelled the way the Kiwi accent would probounce it. :-) :-) :-)62Holdenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01877667084746272997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37796969.post-84254087950900790642013-05-09T09:31:30.707+12:002013-05-09T09:31:30.707+12:00This comment has been hidden from the blog.dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02950430225424629417noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37796969.post-40163841362099744402013-05-09T09:09:51.325+12:002013-05-09T09:09:51.325+12:00This comment has been hidden from the blog.Chris Odomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14476994620989287013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37796969.post-31804889717725321922013-05-08T00:10:51.802+12:002013-05-08T00:10:51.802+12:00yeah, i follow this in my google reader as well. There were some challenges (our container took the long route via Singapore!), but they made it right in the end. We used them again to move when we bought our house earlier this year.

The shipping is incredibly expensive, but it was worth it for us. While we have purchased some nice furniture here - and more quality furniture is available than several years ago - we already had some very nice pieces that we wanted to keep. We shipped a full container; with insurance, it was upwards of $20k.dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02950430225424629417noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37796969.post-69353936507127503612011-08-12T18:55:59.349+12:002011-08-12T18:55:59.349+12:00When did you move to NZ? The place I go is VERY expensive, but they're good and everyone speaks English, which isn't always the case with the cheaper dentists in Auckland, or our part of it, anyway. I've had private health insurance (Southern Cross) for over ten years now, and it covers the same situation you, um, faced.
